What is Blue Rock FRESH? Glad you asked. It's a LIVE performance IN THE ROUND on the heels of an immersive artist residency at the acclaimed Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio in Wimberley, Texas. We invite our community to slip inside this highly-charged creative incubator to experience a fresh mash-up of ideas and artistry.  

The Residency: Selected by application, celebrated musicians and songwriters spend seven days in the Texas Hill Country, stepping away from touring to craft new songs in an intensive, collaborative environment.

The Concert: The residency culminates in a unique and intimate concert in which artists draw from a well of songs, new and familiar, surrounded by a live Blue Rock audience.

Musicians, music lovers, writers, visual artists and teachers of varying backgrounds and proficiency are welcome to participate in the workshop. Previous participants agree the workshop will enhance the creativity of anyone interested in songwriting or creating art.

Participants will be invited (but not obligated) to perform acoustic versions of their songs at the piano or with acoustic guitar. The rest of us will listen and respond. We will strive for camaraderie, laughter, and the occasional surprising insight. Along with discussions of the songs presented, we will explore a wide range of topics related to music and words, writing and creativity, recording and performing. We will also do some songwriting and collaborating together.

The experience is all about taking a few steps forward in your songwriting life, regardless of whether you are just starting out, or have been writing and recording for years. The workshop is helpful to writers and artists of any persuasion.

Once you are registered, if you are interested in performing at the workshop, please plan to submit 2-3 original songs, preferably recent works, to overtherhineofficial@gmail.com to help Linford and Karin get a feel for your work. Simple, sparse recordings are welcome. iPhone etc.

Workshop begins Friday 1p.m. and ends Sunday 12 noon.

$500 prepaid (includes a $300 scholarship provided by the Blue Rock Foundation)
